Uth Records calls for young musicians

On the anniversary of their tenth year Ufone announced the launch of Uth Records; a television show that will showcase and promote young musicians in the country by selecting them through their demos and helping them record their own music.
The Uth Records concept distinguishes itself from other local singing competitions though the idea that it will accept any form of musical talent, whether it is a solo artist or a whole band. The selections will be made through auditions, which will be judged by a panel of producers including Louise J Pinto (Gumby), and Omran Shafique.
Musicians can send in their demos online, by post, or if they are Ufone users- by recording them live via phone.
Those selected will then work closely with the producers “to arrange, compose and record their respective original compositions… in a professional recording studio with some of Pakistan’s most gifted musicians.” This process will also be showcased alongside the finished songs in the Uth Records television show.
The show will be directed by Zeeshan Pervez, a talented new director whose portfolio includes many new music videos. Pervez is also a member of the musical duo Sajid and Zeeshan.
Aspiring musicians in Pakistan are often frustrated by the lack of record labels and commercial avenues for promoting themselves locally and recording their music.
Uth Records’ first show will debut nationwide in February 2011 on all leading channels.
