Strings, Overload & Shafqat Amanat Ali to perform at charity concert – ‘Umeed 2011’

Dubai: At least three top bands including Strings and Overload from Pakistan will perform together at a charity rock concert in Dubai on Friday, March 25.

The concert named ‘Umeed 2011′ (hope) will also feature a leading singer Shafqat Amanat Ali, who is equally famous in Indian and Pakistan. Ali’s music represents a mix of classical and modern.

He is the son of the late Ustaad Amanat Ali Khan, a renowned classical singer.

The Strings band is an internationally acclaimed pop/rock band that ushered in a new style in music. Comprising of two members, Bilal Maqsood and Faisal Kapadia, Strings won Best Band at the MTV Asian Awards in 2005, Best Band Award in Sahara Music Awards UK in 2005.

They have worked on the Spiderman soundtrack (South Asia Release), soundtrack for Zinda and Shootout at Lokhandwala (both Bollywood blockbuster movies).

Overload was formed in 2004 by Farhad Humayun, is known as ‘the loudest band in Pakistan’.

Their music represents a rock fusion style which has made their two albums so successful.

They won the ‘Best Live Act Award’ at the Lux Style Awards in 2006.

The Song “Dhamaal” was nominated for the ‘Best Music Video’ at the Lux Syle Awards in 2008.

Overload was nominated for the ‘Best Music Artist’ award at the Lux Style Awards 2010 for their album ‘Pichal Pairee’.

Tickets

The concert will take place at The Palladium in Dubai Media City holding 4,000 fans for the night. Tickets, priced at Dh100, 250, 550 and 1250, are on sale at all Dubai Virgin Megastores, Time Out Tickets and at the Palladium Box Office.

With a blend of Sufi, Rock and Fusion music it will surely be a night not to be missed.

Proceeds of the show will go to various charity organisations.
